If you delete it off the Camera Roll and then it gets automatically deleted off the Photo Stream after 30 days then the photo is gone. Then what? The answer is not clear enough on this account, so I will update it.

Edits are stored in iCloud and stay up to date on your Apple devices. My Photo Stream Doesn't count against your iCloud storage. Uploads your last 30 days and up to photos. Downloads to your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch in a smaller resolution.

On your Mac or PC, your photos download in full-resolution. Edits you make won't update across your devices. Need help? Photo Stream will not use up the allotted space in your iCloud account. Whether or not you opt for special features in your iCloud account, your Photo Stream feature will remain unaffected. Camera Roll automatically lines up the photos you take.
